Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes > Wines > Tyrrell's Fifth Generation
Still family owned since 1858, Tyrrell’s are a wine company rich in history and pioneering achievements.
Bruce’s children, Jane, John and Christopher are all involved in the company in both sales and winemaking which ensures a continuing family ownership for the company well into the future with the fifth generation.
The palate is quite full flavoured, with spicy peppery overtones from the Shiraz, and blackcurrant flavours from the Cabernet. Medium weight tannins balance the acid resulting in a smooth, pleasant finish. An easy-drinking red wine which matches well with beef or roast lamb, whilst also suitable with poultry or game bird dishes. |
Colour is medium straw yellow with green hints. Herbaceous, grassy and lifted citrus aromas are evident on the nose. Fresh, rich, tropical flavours are echoed on the palate which has good length and a crisp balanced acid on the finish. The Fifth Generation Classic Dry White combines especially well with most white meat dishes, fish, and seafood. |
Tyrrell's Fifth Generation Pinot Grigio Light golden in colour, this pinot grigio has delicately perfumed aroma with flavours of fresh pear. The palate shows citrus and melon rind fruit with lilac notes and crisp acidity. The long finish is vibrant, crisp and balanced with the silky texture unique to this variety. |
Tyrrell's Fifth Generation Semillon Sauvignon Blanc A lively, fresh wine, characterised the grassy aromas of the sauvignon blanc with clean lemon citurs semillon flavours on the palate. |
The colour is medium straw with a fine continuous bead. The nose has lifted fruit characters with some slight 'toastiness'. This characteristic shows the benefits of blending both aged and young wines to give this consistent style. The palate is soft and full flavoured with a good 'mousse'. An ideal aperitif and will compliment hors d’oeuvres, pate, eggs, vegetables, fish and smoked small goods. |
